Happy Easter!

We had a very fun Easter weekend. We dyed Easter Eggs with Morgan, Dallen, and Shaylee. Kynlee thought it was fun to put an egg in each of the dye cups and just leave them.
We hunted candy that Grandma Sue hid in the back yard.
Korbin helped Dallen find 5 bucks

The Easter Bunny came!!!

We hunted Easter Eggs.
It makes me ridiculously happy that I can dress my girls up in matching outfits.

We watched lots of conference. Although I have to admit I used to get a lot more out of conference before I had 3 eight month olds crawling around. We printed out conference bingo sheets that were fun for Kynlee. And since the theme of the womens session was family (the only session I got to watch uninterrupted), I will just smile and enjoy my little distractions.
And of course we hit our Easter Eggs with a baseball bat at the end of the day.

Morgan sure looks like a professional Easter Egg hitter.
The next day Kynlee was playing in the yard, and then she came to me in tears holding half of one of the eggs that she decorated. Apparently she is not a fan of my Mom's egg disposal tradition. Too bad Kynlee, it is one of my favorites so it is not going to stop any time soon.

8 Months

My little babes turned 8 months old on Easter Sunday. They are so cute, and I wish they would stop growing up so fast.

Little Em is a such a sweet girl. She is her big sister's favorite, which sometimes does not fare so well for the boys. She mostly scoots backwards but she can crawl forward if she is really motivated. Her brothers are starting to get hair, but poor Em is as bald as ever. She has cute chunky thighs that she will be cursing me for later in life. She loves to eat pretty much anything, and she loves to kick her legs all the time. She is the only one who can sit up on her own. We love her so much.
B-Bop is such a handsome boy. He has crawled forward a few times, but he mostly only goes backwards. If I try to motivate him to go forward for something by putting it just out of his reach he gets really frustrated and cries. Sometimes I can tell he is trying really hard to go forward, but it is a 1 step forward 2 steps back process, poor guy. He has also started to become a picky eater, and he refuses most baby food now. I don't really blame him, real food is way better. We love him so much.

Korbster is on the move. He started army crawling about 3 weeks ago if I put food in front of him. Now he is a full on explorer. This little guy will follow his big sister around the room all day to see what she is doing, unfortunately he is not her "best friend" like Emery, so she moves every time he gets close, poor guy. He loves to eat anything, and he is a big cheeser if anyone is around. We love him so much.

Bike Riding!

Thanks for the bike Alex!
SOMEONE is getting lots of use out of it.

We did it!!!

Megan and I ran 13.1 miles on Saturday in the Canyonlands half Marathon. Now that it is over I am glad that I did it, but during those last 2 miles I was really wondering why I was willingly torturing myself. I beat my goal time of 2 hours finishing just under 1 hour and 56 minutes.

We did the half marathon for the first time 5 years ago, way back before either of us had any kids.
This time I think Megan must have called me while I was in the hospital over the summer pregnant with triplets and asked if I wanted to run it again with her. At the time I would have done anything to get out of that bed, and the thought of doing something to lose all that baby weight appealed to me so it probably wasn't too hard to talk me into doing it. I seriously doubt it will be that easy to talk me into doing one again for the following reasons:
  • It was really hard!!!!
  • Training with 4 kids was not easy
  • Training for long distance takes a bit of a time commitment
  • Taking care of kids with sore legs the day after a long run is not ideal
  • Some days I just could not get a workout in, so I was not as in shape as I would have liked to have been
  • There is a really big hill at mile 10 that I am still feeling
  • Oh and did I mention it was really hard
I honestly have no idea how people run full marathons because a half marathon is as far as I ever want to go.

During the race, I felt like I would never finish...
But I did!!!
I knew there were 4 cuties waiting for me at the finish line, and the best husband in the world cheering me on. Even though those last 2 miles felt like they took hours, I kept on running. The faster you go the sooner the pain ends right?
When all is said and done I really am glad I did it.

And you know what...
I would do it again!

My cute kids!!

Did you know that before I had kids I was a pretty capable person. Now I do everything WRONG. Just ask my 2 year old. To make matters worse, the few things that I am actually still capable of doing right during the day I am suddenly no longer capable of doing once Daddy gets home. And I have been assured by more experienced mothers that it will be this way for the rest of my life. Ok that might be an exaggeration, but that is how it seems. Oh well at least I have to cutest kids in the world.

Before I became a Mom I expected certain things from motherhood. You know the usual things like long nights with crying babes, messy floors, sticky chairs and fingers, spit up, lots of poopy diapers, ect...
I did not expect the door mat to get moved every time I put it back in front of the door, and I certainly did not expect it to end up in one of the babies cribs with a stuffed animal rolled up in it. Why yes that does make a mess of the sheets, thanks for asking.
Let's just say that motherhood is full of unexpected surprises. Most of them I can laugh about, like when I find individual goldfish crackers in all of my pots and pans, or when I find a stuffed horse snacking on a pile of bannana chips.

Other surpises fill my heart like when I catch Kynlee giving a babe a hug, or when the babes hold hands while they play.
I have come to expect the happy grins the babes give in the morning when I get them out of their crib, even though I know it is coming, it melts my heart every time.

I love being a mom, even if I forget at times, and life would be quite boring without the fun surprises my cute kids bring.
And while I do wish certain things like the door mat would stay put, I am glad to have fun little surprises that take me back to the simple joys and curiosity of being a kid.

Oh and did I mention I have the cutest kids in the world?
Just look at these pictures for proof.

 REACH!!!
Kynlee thought this was so much fun, and luckily Emery doesn't seem to mind it too much either.

This is how I found Kynlee one day when she was supposed to be napping.

I'd much rather try on hats and drive my car than nap too.

No wait, I would rather nap!

7 Months!

My babes are 7 months old. They are so cute, and they are starting to roll all over the place.

B-bop is such a cute boy. He is the biggest at 12lbs 1oz. He loves to smile, does not love to sleep, and is a nice happy boy most of the time. We love him.

Korbster is still my smiley guy. He is the smallest at 11lbs 5 oz, even though he eats more than the other babes. He can fall asleep in about 10 seconds, and he LOVES to eat. He does not care all that much about milk, but when it is feeding time he sits with his arms spread wide and his mouth open ready for a bite the whole time.We love him.

Little Em is such a sweet girl. She is 11lbs 14oz. She covers the most ground with her rolling and she usually ends up stuck under the couch. It is easy to make her giggle and daddy thinks she will be crawling in the next 2 weeks. We love her.

These babes are so cute!!! We have been going thru another batch of colds this week, the runny noses are out of control. But everyone is still in good spirits... except when I am trying to wipe their noses. We also had a breakthru in the sleep department this week, all 3 babes slept from 8:00PM until 6:00AM without a peep. Wahoo!!!! We love them so much!

Life with Triplets!

"If you think my hands are full... you should see my heart!"

I saw this quote the other day, and I thought it pretty much summed up my life. People always ask me how I manage to take care of triplets and a 2 year old by myself. Well it is not easy, but it is not impossible either.

Some days I feel like all I do is go from one problem to the next, and some days I feel like my only accomplishment was to get dressed and feed my kids. Other days I feel super accomplished about little things like getting the dishes done when in reality all I did was load my breakfast dishes and start the dishwasher that was already loaded, but let me tell you as I push that start button I get great satisfaction.

I have to plan every task out really well because nothing is worse than sitting down to nurse the babes and not having a pacifier or a burp rag nearby, or having Kynlee want apple juice right then. I really regret the days that I neglect separating bottles while the babes were napping, and I have to do it amid a screamfest.

One thing is for sure, I couldn't do it without my amazing husband who is great about helping with everything, and my sweet Kynlee is the nicest girl we could have asked for. Our extended family is also great about helping too. I think I would dread going to church every week if we didn't have Dallen and Shaylee there to help us, and Morgan is great to watch our kids so we can get out every week.

Even with careful planning and lots of help, some days are still really hard. All the books said to get the babies on a good schedule and stick to it. Ok so I really only read 1 book, but that is what it said. Let me tell you I have tried so hard to get the babes on a good schedule, but it seems the babes try just as hard to not stick to a schedule. Have you ever tried to get 3 tiny humans to sleep when they don't want to? Or convince them that they are not hungry yet? It is not fun, and some days the schedule goes out the window as we switch into pure survival mode. So for everyone who asks how I do it, here are a few confessions about my life.

  • Kynlee had cheese and jerky for breakfast today while I nursed the babes. She originally asked for a cookie so it could have been worse.
  • I have no idea what we are going to have for dinner today.
  • There are lots of tears at our house, and some of them even come from the babes.
  • Carson takes care of the babes at night way more than I do.
  • I am completely smitten by the cuteness of my sweet babes.
  • I rarely do my hair anymore.
  • I still make my bed every day.
  • I get excited about going to church and the grocery store because those are the only times I get out of the house.
  • I still get dressed every day, although sometimes it does not happen until noon.
  • There is a load of laundry still in the dryer from last Friday.
  • We have cereal, soup, and waffles for dinner more than I care to admit.
  • I still make time to read a handful of books to Kynlee before her nap.
  • My babes wear pajamas about 80% of the time even though they have a closet FULL of cute clothes.
  • I love to snuggle a warm baby close to me.
  • I rarely clean our bathroom (It may get a little wipedown between cleanings if we are lucky).
  • Some weeks the most exciting thing Kynlee does is ride in the laundry basket while I pull it around the house.
  • I get to kiss squishy baby cheeks all day long.
  • My kitchen floor almost always needs mopped. It is currently very sticky with what I thought was water when I half-heartedly wiped it up last night but turned out to be apple juice.
  • I am training to run in a half marathon next month.
  • I am lucky to get 3 or 4 workouts in a week.
  • I love to watch my kids sleep.
  • My clothes usually have spit up or spilled milk somewhere on them.
  • Sometimes I just fix Kynlee's hairstyle that we neglected to take out the night before and call it good for the day.
  • I may or may not do this with my hair from time to time.
  • I managed to find time to sew myself a dress last week (I thought I would never sew again when I found out I was having triplets)
  • I think I have the cutest kids in the world. I am not bias or anything.
  • Some days my arms get tired from pacing the house holding 2 or more fussy babies.
  • I make a fool of myself singing silly songs and dancing to make my babes happy,
  • My 2 year old tells me to stop singing.
  • We only bathe our kids twice a week whether they need it or not. Who am I kidding? They always need it, in fact they are usually well past due for a bath, but it is quite the endeavor to bathe all 4 of our kids so we only take it on twice a week.
  • My babes only like to take about a 30-40 minute afternoon nap. It makes for a very long afternoon.
  • I use chocolate to help get me through every afternoon until daddy comes home.
  • I feel like part of a circus train whenever we go anywhere in public.
  •  We get stares like we are a circus train whenever we go anywhere in public.
  • I am letting my 2 year old watch episode after episode of Peppa Pig while I write this post.
  • Some days I feel like a complete failure.
  • I love my kids more than anything, and I wouldn't have life any other way!

The Babes Nursery!

The last time Megan and I did a pinterest challenge I showed some of the things I had made for the babes nursery, and I promised to post pictures when it was all done. Well it is finally all put together. It has been mostly done for a while, but we finally put the toddler bed in Kynlee's room and got all the cribs in the babes room. Now the babes all sleep in their own cribs. It makes me a little sad because they looked so cute sleeping next to each other every night. I love how the nursery turned out though. I bought the crib bumpers, and then I made all of the crib skirts, the curtains, the pillows, the wall art, and the pom poms. So here it is for everyone to see now that the babes are 6 months old.

6 Months!!

That's right, my babes are 6 months old!! I can't believe it either.

Miss Emery is my early riser. She loves to lay on the floor and kick her feet. She gives up giggles easily, and she is a bit of a beast if she gets too tired before I put her down for a nap. We love her so much!

Mister Korbin is my smiley guy but he doesn't give up giggles easily. He is the best sleeper of the bunch, and he is a chatty boy. We love him so much.

Mister Braxton likes to sleep in late, and he never seems to be on the same sleeping schedule as the other babes. He giggles when tickled, and he is still a nice mellow boy. We love him so much.

Some days are really hard with the babes, but some things have gotten easier too. We are  trying really hard to get them to sleep thru the night, and they are trying really hard to not sleep thru the night. They are growing nicely, and they like to eat baby food and cereal. They also like to play on the floor and they like music. They have started tormenting each other a little so I may have to start putting them farther apart. Sometimes I catch Braxton holding onto Emery's ear, or Emery kicking Korbin in the head, or Korbin sucking on Braxton's head. Other times I catch them holding hands and it makes my heart melt. They are so sweet and I love to snuggle them. Carson and I still find ourselves saying we can't believe we have triplets. We never thought this is how our lives would go, but we can't imagine our family without any of our sweet babes, we love them so much.
